La House Music est née au début des années 1980 à Chicago. Originellement liée à l'histoire des DJ, son nom provient du Warehouse, club où officiait le DJ Frankie Knuckles.
La house est fondamentalement constituée d'un rythme minimal, d'une ligne de basse proche du funk et de voix, samplées ou non.
